⚠️ Crime Report | 📆 January 20, 2023 | 🌎 WaysideAt approximately 10:49 p.m., Deputy Acuna and his K9 partner Beny initiated a traffic stop near the 2200 block of S. Wayside Dr. on a vehicle that had an expired registration since 2016. The male driver did not have a driver's license and was found to have an open warrant for Driving While License Invalid. When asked to step out of the vehicle, Deputy Acuna could smell marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. The suspect was detained along with a female passenger and upon further investigation, K9 Beny helped locate 28.64 grams of marijuana. Inside the vehicle, deputies also located a handgun. Rodriguez and Deputy Salinas were on a contract check when they smelled burnt marijuana emitting from a vehicle. Deputy Rodriguez spoke with the driver of the vehicle who stated he had a weapon with him. Deputies detained all of the occupants of the vehicle while they completed their investigation.In total, deputies discovered 3 firearms, 548 grams of marijuana, a bottle of promethazine, and a bottle of a substance containing THC weighing 276 grams. The driver was charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana. One passenger was charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon (2nd Degree Felony due to a previous charge).
