At approximately 5:23 p.m. Deputy Ipina observed a vehicle near the 600 block of Berry Rd. at a public housing contract. The vehicle had four occupants and Deputy Ipina saw that the driver resembled a suspect from a previous incident regarding a disturbance with a weapon just days before. Deputy Holbert, Deputy Garcia, and Sergeant Granados arrived on scene as backup units.
Deputy Ipina made contact with the suspects and could smell a strong odor of burnt Marijuana from inside of the vehicle. Deputy Ipina observed a handgun on the floorboard and asked the front passenger to step out of the vehicle. The suspect was detained and further investigation was conducted.
Deputy Holbert asked the right side passenger to step out of the vehicle and detained him. Deputies found 32 rounds of ammunition in his pocket.
Deputies also located another firearm (a black revolver) inside of the vehicle on the back seat floorboard. The District Attorney’s Office accepted charges on the front passenger and the back right passenger for Unlawful Carry of a Weapon. The suspects were transported and booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
Great job Deputy Ipina, Deputy Garcia, Deputy Holbert, and Sergeant Granados!
