On Friday, March 29th, Deputy Lancaster was dispatched to a service call regarding a stolen vehicle, when the manager of a gas station on the 2000 block of Runnels Street advised him that a male suspect was attempting to steal items from the store. The male suspect started assaulting a nearby civilian and Deputy Lancaster attempted to detain the suspect. The suspect was combative and struck Deputy Lancaster multiple times in the face and upper torso area, knocking him to the ground. A very brave civilian, Brandon Baltimore, saw our deputy in distress and stepped in. The citizen was able to detain the suspect while backup units arrived. The suspect was arrested and the District Attorney’s Office accepted a charge for Assault on a Public Servant.
Deputy Lancaster was transported to the hospital and later released.
Yesterday, Constable Silvia Trevino presented Mr. Baltimore with a Certificate of Recognition for his brave and selfless actions. Mr. Baltimore is a prime example of how Community and Law Enforcement can work together for the Well-being and Safety of everyone.
Thank you, Deputy Lancaster, for your dedication to serving our community and thank you, Mr. Baltimore, for your heroic actions!
